Recovery

This information is per tasiak on the OpenWrt forums.

The 2300 v1 is recoverable from (at least some) bricked states via pin shorting..

specifically, pins 9 and 10 on the Flash IC.

Pin 1 is denoted by the silkscreened dot. Pin 10 should be about where a small

silkscreened line on the PCB which intersects with R69 in the board photos below.

Recovery steps...

  • 0: Figure out how you are going to proceed with the following steps.
  • 1: Power the router off.
  • 2: Power the router on. Wait for LED init..
  • 3: Short pins 9 and 10 for a short period of time (~ 1 second).
  • 4: Press the reset button. (I did not find this step necessary.)
  • 5: The router should now be pingable at whatever the bootloader is set to.. probably 192.168.2.1.
  • 6: TFTP (binary / octet mode) the firmware of choice
(I used the latest version of Tomato, the stock FW did not work) to the unit and wait.
