Radio

  • On-chip baluns for single-ended RF input and output
  • No external trimming required in production
  • Low output spurii and strong receive blocking performance against cellular bands
allows for good coexistence with cellular radios
  • Front-end control logic can be programmed to support common 802.11 only and 802.11
+ Bluetooth RF front-end configurations
  • Support for antenna diversity selection

Transmitter

  • Support for power compensation of external PA to produce stable transmit power across temperature
  • Digital predistortion can be used to compensate for non-linearities in external PA
  • Control of transmit gain settings on a per-packet basis allows transmit power to be optimised
for each modulation scheme

Receiver

  • Fast AGC and wide dynamic range allow for excellent robustness against fading

Frequency Synthesiser

  • Fully integrated fractional-N synthesiser
  • Low phase noise and fast switching time
  • Supports all 802.11b/g/n (20MHz) channel frequencies

Frequency Reference

  • Support for common cellular reference frequencies
  • On-chip crystal driver
  • Digital trimming of crystal allows use of less-tightly toleranced crystals
  • Internal low-power clock eliminates requirement foran additional frequency references

Auxiliary Features

  • Four 10-bit ADCs/DACs used for internal calibration. These can also be used to provide
a bias voltage or measure the output power of an external PA.

Modem

  • Supports the following modulations:
  1. All mandatory 802.11b modulations: 1, 2, 5.5, 11Mbps
  2. All 802.11g OFDM modulations: 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, 54Mbps
  3. 802.11n HT modulations MCS0-7, 20MHz, 800 and 400ns guard interval:

6.5, 7.2, 13.0, 14.4, 19.5, 21.7, 26.0, 28.9, 39.0, 43.3, 52.0, 57.8, 58.5, 65.0, 72.2Mbps

  1. STBC reception for 802.11n HT modulations MCS0-7
  • Dynamic power saving

MAC

including QoS traffic scheduling
  • Supports the following optional 802.11n features:
  1. MPDU aggregation
  2. MSDU aggregation
  3. Immediate Block Acknowledgement
  4. PSMP
  5. MTBA
  6. RIFS
  7. L-SIG TXOP protection
  8. Link adaptation using MCS feedback

Encryption

  • Hardware encryption according to 802.11-2007 and 802.11w-2009:
  1. WEP40/64
  2. WEP104/128
  3. CCMP (AES)
  4. TKIP
  5. BIP
