Current Atheros driver contains the following entries for "Sony 11n" devices:

3091 corresponds to "Atheros AR928X Wireless Network Adapter"
30A1 corresponds to "Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter"
30A4 corresponds to "Atheros AR9287 Wireless Network Adapter"
The AR9285 is a single stream product, so it wouldn't be the UWA-BR100 and the AR9287 seems to be 2.4GHz only whereas the UWA-BR100 is 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
This makes me think that the PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002A&SUBSYS_E007105B may be the UWA-BR100. Here are many drivers which apparently support this device.
The second chip visible in the FCC photos may be a PCIe to USB bridge since the RT9280 is supposedly a PCIe chip.

- They have a subsystem ID.. so I would think they would all be PCI/PCIe devices. Anyway, the UWA-BR100 appears to be another AR7010 (or similar) + AR9280 device like the xbox 360 N adapter. Some of the AR9271 drivers have AR7010 devices referenced within (they appear to be architecturally similar), but the drivers don't actually work (or they at least don't work with the xbox 360 N adapter). They obviously have internal drivers for the devices per the FCC testing data, however, but there's obviously no need to release them for general consumption if they're just going to stick them in Xboxes and TVs. -M86 19:10, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

This adaptor may actually not use an Atheros chipset. First, the AR9280 is a PCIexpress model, not a USB one. Second, the device ID is 0411:017f, with 0411 indicating that it is a MelCo., Inc. device. Melco adaptors are actually Buffalo. Buffalo markets an identical-looking device, built around a Ralink chip, rta2870.
Regular ralink Linux drivers do not seem to work however, even if the proper usb ids is added to the list in the driver.
Finally, in the source code for the Sony Linux OS used in their TVs and Blu Ray players, which they are obliged to make public under the GNU general public licence, [1], there are no drivers for either Ralink or Atheros drivers. It may be the case that the sources are not up to date, or what else?

- You can examine the documents submitted to the FCC (which would include internal and external pictures) at http://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid/ with the FCC ID that is printed on the adapter. The item in the FCC ID submissions of the already listed FCC ID is labeled as the UWA-BR100.
- It does look identical to the Buffalo WLI-UC-AG300N.. interesting to know that MelCo made the device.
- Also, the AR9280 is accompanied by the AR7010 bridge chip in this particular chipset. You may (or may not) have some luck with modifying ath9k_htc to get it to work.

Working fine!
I bought a Sony UWA-BR100 with mfg date 2011-01-24. Initially it didn't happen much when I plugged it in to my Ubuntu 11.04 PC. After installing a modified compat-wireless driver package it started working though!
