AC1200 Wireless Dual-Band USB Adapter

Product page  • Datasheet

"1244-01000871-50Z" appears to be silkscreened on the board in the FCC photos.

The device is using two Skyworks (SiGe) SE5022T / 5022T 5GHz Power Amplifiers
and two Skyworks SKY85601 (SKY85601-11?) SPDT Switch w/ LNA modules.
The flip-up antenna (LYNWAVE ALA110-221020) is connected via an internal U.FL / IPEX connector.

Based on Edimax's provided drivers, the USB ID of the device is presumed to be 7392:a822.

The drivers also indicate a single-stream RTL8811AU based device
(USB ID: 7392:a811, AC600, EW-7811UAC?) may be released later by Edimax.

Warning: each time the device scans it seems to cause a 3second delay in
packets for several seconds (Linux 3.13 using patched 1.0.1.6 drivers).
As network manager does this by default every 2mins this is can be very problematic.

Review of Linux Compatibility

Edimax EW-7822UAC is a USB WiFi stick, which supports wireless connections 802.11ac.

The adapter bases on the Realtek RTL8812AU chipset and has the USB ID 7392:a822:
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 7392:a822 Edimax Technology Co., Ltd

Until now no driver for the EW-7822UAC is included in the standard Linux kernel.

However, Edimax provides a Linux driver for this adapter,
which has to be compiled from source per hand.

Alternatively, on can use a Open-Source Linux driver from GitHub

by downloading the ZIP file which is available on the linked page.

The downloaded file can be compiled by:

cd Downloads/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux-master
make
sudo make install
sudo modprobe 8812au

The compiled kernel module 8812au.ko will be used automatically for the stick after reboot.

As of March 2017, Edimax has provided a detailed tutorial for compiling the Open Source driver on higher kernel versions (e.g. above 4.1)
